Titans through to Cup Semi-Finals

GFSN League champions London Titans reached the semi-finals of the GFSN National Cup with a win over Newcastle Panthers on Sunday (20th).

Newcastle took the lead early on in the first half via a free-kick that lobbed the visiting goalkeeper, whos vision was affected by the very low winter sun.

Titans were missing their first-choice centre-midfielders and their manager for the start of the match; fog causing their early morning flight from Heathrow to be delayed by 2.5 hours.

Regardless, the Titans equalised after 15 minutes with a well-worked goal that utilised both their wingers.

With the delayed members of the Titans squad rarriving midway through the first half, the visitors took a stranglehold on the match and soon put themselves 2-1 up with a sterling finish from the captain Felton.

The match continued to be entertaining with both sides pushing for goals; Titans seaching for a third goal to kill off the tie, and Newcastle battling to find an equaliser.

With 10 minutes remaining, the home side equalised after their big striker beat the Titans offside trap and lobbed the on-rushing Titans keeper.

Full Time 2-2

With the light fading, the game went straight to penalties and the visitors managed to sneak a sudden death winner to book their place in the semi-finals.
