GFSN National League - The World's Only Gay-Friendly Football League

Nottingham Ballbois FC

Currently GFSN League Champions Nottingham Ballbois is a football club aimed primarily at gay and gay-friendly players and supporters in Nottingham and surrounding areas, however they are open to all people who want to play or support football in an inclusive and supportive environment.

Ballbois have members of all ages, shapes and sizes, both straight and gay, and with different levels of footballing ability.

The club was formed in May 2006 when 10 people turned up to Gresham Playing Fields in West Bridgford for a jumpers-for-goalposts kickaround. Within two months the club was playing its first friendly game against Birmingham Blaze.

In the subsequent months the club developed at a rapid pace, playing twelve further fixtures during its inaugural season and securing sponsorship for its distinctive black and gold kit.

The first year was finished off in style with the Ballbois hosting their own Anniversary Tournament and then travelling to Dublin for the GFSN national five-a-side tournament, where Nottingham was the only club to qualify both teams to the quarter-final stages.

Nottingham gained its first silverware in 2008, winning the annual Yorkshire 5-a-side tournament, followed up with a win in the annual GFSN National 5-a-side tournament. Nottingham hosted its second Anniversary Tournament in May 2008, which also raised money for the charity Everyman.

They went on to win the GFSN National League in 2009.
